A perfect meal for entertaining friends, this takes rump steak to a more sophisticated – and savoury!-level.
4 rump steaks, fat trimmed off
1/2 cup of butter
3 tablespoons of tomato sauce
1 teaspoon of soya sauce
1 teaspoon of crushed garlic
1 teaspoon of mustard
4 tablespoons of brandy
5 tablespoons of cream
Salt and black pepper
Sprigs of rosemary to garnish
Heat half the butter in a pan.
Mix the tomato sauce and soya sauce together and brush the steaks on both sides.
Fry until steaks are done to your preference. (usually between 4-8 mins per side)
Remove from pan,and put in a covered dish to rest. (This keeps the meat seriously juicy)
In the same pan, add the remaining butter and lightly saute the garlic.
Add the mustard and brandy, and bring to the boil while stirring.
Remove from heat, add the cream and season to taste.
Drizzle the sauce over those gorgeous steaks. A little grinding of fresh black pepper and a rosemary sprig adds the final touch.
This is fabulous served with mash or string fries, with a side salad. A bottle of good red wine makes it a feast.
