Camembert is a gorgeous cheese infused with an almost lightly nutty creaminess. Baked camembert is an easy, delicious treat to offer guests, a great starter for a meal, or even better – enjoyed with a bottle of great wine while relaxing.
1 whole camembert, plastic removed and placed back in its box
(If you prefer, you can bake it in a small ceramic bowl, but be sure the cheese fits snugly)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Drizzle of olive oil or honey
Sprig of rosemary
Optional extras: Chilli flakes
Adult version: A tablespoon of kirsch or a good white wine
Cut an X into the top of the cheese, you want to cut through the skin, so don’t be afraid to cut deeply.
If preferred, you can remove the lid entirely.
Bake in its box, or place carefully into the ceramic container.
Drizzle with the honey or olive oil.
Insert some of the rosemary needles into the gaps, or if lidless – place the sprig on top.
Season with the salt and pepper, and chilli flakes if using.
(If using the alcohol version, pour it on now)
Bake between 15-20 minutes at 180*c until gorgeous and gooey.
Serve with toasted bread fingers or breadsticks.
Absolutely decadently delicious!
